Latin America
Latin America encompasses a vast and diverse region stretching from Mexico through Central America, the Caribbean, and South America. United by the Spanish and Portuguese languages and a shared Catholic heritage, the region nonetheless contains enormous cultural variation — from the cosmopolitan business centers of São Paulo, Mexico City, and Buenos Aires to the traditional highland cultures of Peru, Ecuador, and Guatemala.
Business culture across Latin America places great emphasis on personal relationships. Trust is built through face-to-face interaction, shared meals, and demonstrated commitment over time. Hierarchy and respect for authority are important, though the degree varies by country. Time is generally more flexible than in Northern Europe or the United States — patience and adaptability are essential virtues for foreign business professionals.
